Pastor Eddie

From as early as he can remember, Pastor Eddie J.O. Smith, Sr. has wanted to be a preacher. He has been excited about serving the Lord all his life. He presently serves as the proud Pastor of Tuxedo Park Baptist Church, located on the historical Near Eastside community of Indianapolis, Indiana.

A native of Chicago, Illinois, Pastor Eddie holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from DePaul University in Chicago, and a Master of Divinity degree from Northern Baptist Theological Seminary in Lisle, Illinois. He is currently pursuing a Doctor of Ministry at Northern Baptist Theological Seminary in Lisle, Illinois.
Pastor Eddie believes that the church should be a beacon of hope and a bright light in this dying dark world. He believes that the church should be the thriving center of the community that it lives and breathes in. “The main mission of the church should be ‘The Great Commission.’ I believe that a church can obtain these objectives through ethnography and evangelism. Ethnography is the study of customs of individual people and cultures. A church must study the customs and culture of the community that it lives in, to learn and become what that community needs. Once a church begins to shape itself to meet the needs of the community that it lives in, evangelism and outreach become easier.”

When Pastor Eddie is not pursuing souls for the kingdom, he loves spinning/cycling. He is married to the love of his life, Leslie. They are the proud parents of seven incredible children.
